Charlie has a great book of idioms from foreign countries. One of our favourites is: “One hand cannot hold two watermelons.” How profound.

I had been growing mesclun in my front yard planters, but once the summer heat really took hold they all went to seed and that was the end of that. Not wanting any potential growing space to go to waste, I planted pumpkins.

It looks like a squirrel got two of the seeds in one pot, so I had to replant them on Sunday. But otherwise they seem to be doing well so far.

This may end up being a tragically mistaken decision in the long run, but the seeds were cheap, I didn’t have pumpkins planted anywhere else and I’m curious. Can one pot contain three pumpkins?
